Chatteris cueman Joe Perry went out to eventual winner and world number one Neil Robertson in the UK Snooker Championship at the Barbican Centre, York.

Perry said: “It was a funny match. Neil missed more balls than I did. Every time I seemed to miss, I left one over the pocket.”

Australian Robertson, who won 6-1, described the second table at the venue where he beat Perry as “absolute garbage” after beating Stephen Maguire 6-2 in the last eight.

Robertson played two rounds on the table as Ronnie O’Sullivan was scheduled to play on the main table.

He said: “I’m just glad they’re taking it out of the arena now.”

Robertson became only the eighth player in snooker history to win the Triple Crown with a 10-7 victory over Mark Selby in the final.
