Players wanted for the youth teams

Wisbech Rugby Club are looking for children aged from 6 to 16-years-old to join their youth teams and maybe find a star of the future.

Over 140 kids from Wisbech and the surrounding villages played for the club’s mini teams last season. The youth teams punched well above their weight with some fantastic results.

A spokesman for the club said “The great thing about rugby is that it is a team sport and suits kids of all shapes and sizes, there is a position to suit everyone in a rugby team. What we want most is commitment and determination, as a contact sport you need to be willing to get stuck in.

“There is also the social side of rugby with players making new friends and joining in with the club’s social events, including trips to train and watch premiership teams, and family fun days.”

The club has teams for ages U7 to U17s, there is no need to be an experienced player as training takes place most Sunday mornings at the club’s Chapel Road ground. Anyone wishing to take part this season should turn up this Sunday at 10am, prepared and ready to take part in training. More information about the club can be found at
