Samurai Karate School held a grading at the Wisbech Hudson Leisure Centre recently.
Pictured are 32 students that have successfully achieved new grades from 7th Kyu to 1st Kyu. Earlier a further 26 students passed grades from beginner to 8th Kyu.
Four students also achieved new junior black belt levels. Kai Lyddiat, Cameron Teakle, and Curtis Rickett achieved their level 2 and Keshena Lyddiatt Level 3.
Working with senior Senseis like six-times world champion Sensei Anne Hastings 6th Dan and Ivor Garner 6th Dan is really beginning to show in the students’ progress.
Kesehna Lyddiatt (15) also achieved a rare accolade being awarded a performance of excellence award for an outstanding grading in passing her Junior Level 3 black belt. Keshena has been training for seven years and is well on course to be in a position to take her Senior 1st Dan in 12 months time. The minimum age for 1st Dan is 16 and with 12 months’ hard work she should be ready.
Instructor Steve King said: “She is a shining example of what Shotokan Karate is about.”
