Second place

WISBECH Swimming Club hosted the first round of the Senior Fenland League and turned in a good performance to finish second with 159 points behind West Norfolk on 170 points. An impressive 11 first places were recorded with 14 new personal best times achieved.

1st places: Jack Lane(3), Grace Cherry (3), Phoebe Gallagher(2), Dannii Rayner, Hannah Brown, junior girls medley relay team.

2nd places: Abi Foley(2), Matt Jakeman(2), Jacob Rhodes, Ollie Newton, Jade Marsters, Hannah Brown, Dannii Rayner, senior girls medley relay team, junior boys medley relay team, senior girls freestyle relay team, squadron mixed freestyle relay team.

3rd places: Liam Carey(2), Tom Kelly, Will Bell, Robson Pack, Jacob Rhodes, Dom Hawkins, Kate Newton, senior boys medley relay team, junior girls freestyle relay team.

4th places: Junior boys freestyle relay team, Jess Rayner (2), Emily Pilbeam, Megan Kierman, Ollie Newton, Ollie Harris, Jade Marsters, senior boys freestyle relay team, junior boys freestyle relay team.

5th places: Ollie Harris, Will Pentelow, Tom Locke, Jess Rayner.

Four of the individual swims were also new club records - Jack Lane, Abi Foley, Hannah Brown and Jade Marsters.

Senior swimmers from March Marlins competed in the 1st round of the SFL at Newmarket. Highest places on the night were reached by Andrew Fresher 3rd in 100m breaststroke and Nat Cook 3rd in 50m freestyle with a new PB.

In all 19 PBs were achieved: Katie McGowen 4x25m Ind/Medley, 100m Backstroke; Marc Johnson 4x25m Ind/Medley; Lucy Halls 100m Butterfly; Richard O’Leary 100m Butterfly and 4x25m Ind/Medley; Daniela Sarkovica 50m Breaststroke; Nat Cook 50m Breaststroke and 50m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke; Jamie Wilson 100m Freestyle; Lydia Gray 50m Butterfly, 50m Freestyle and 4x25m Ind/Medley; Katarina Caikovskaja 50m Freestyle; Siobhan Halliday 50m Breaststroke and 100m Breaststroke; Amelia Wallis 50m Backstroke; Jacob Halls 100m Breaststroke and Richard Peterson 100m Freestyle.

Only a small squad were available to swim on the night and many swimmers had to compete in more races than usual, a huge effort and achievement from everyone.
