On Saturday Fenland Running Club paid homage to revered member Ian ‘The Legend’ Milburn by celebrating his 70th birthday by joining him in the King’s Lynn Parkrun through The Walks.

With over 40 FRC members turning out to surprise Milburn at the start, they swelled numbers for a record number of 222 runners for the event. Milburn stormed home in a time of 22.11 to shatter the previous MV70 course record by almost two minutes.

The atrocious weather on Bank Holiday Monday did nothing to dampen the spirits of the six FRC members who took part in the Grimsthorpe Castle 10K race along with 236 other finishers.

A notably tough, hilly off-road course is not a place for PBs, especially in bad weather. Running home together were Andre Pittock (57th) and Martin Jennings (58th) in an identical time of 44.41.

Next home was new member Daniel Carrington (62nd) in 45.21, followed by Clive Harrod (76th, 46.28); Sarah Gauvin (82nd, 47.06) and Nicola Jennings (107th, 49.08).
