LSHC Ladies 3,

Letchworth 3

This top v third placed clash was worthy of any promotion battle.

Four players were involved in a move which saw Jess Hudson fire home a breakaway lead.

Letchworth equalised from a smart short corner. Great goals from Walker then Baker before half-time somewhat stunned the league leaders, who hit back twice in the second half.

Sutton held out despite the short corner count mounting massively in Letchworth’s favour. Player of the match: Jeorgia Carr in a great team performance.

Long Sutton Men 3,

Cambridge Uni 2nd 3

Cambridge started the brighter, but some excellent work from Hardy allowed Cook to deflect the ball home at the far post.

Fyson then sent over the most delicious aerial for Sisson who smashed it past the oncoming keeper.

The second half saw Cambridge up their level and they equalised. Fyson again fed Sisson to score but in the final few seconds Cambridge converted a penalty corner off Harrison’s head.

Bourne Deeping 2nds 0, LSHC Mens’ 2nd 4

Sutton again gave the Dragons a lesson in hockey that could have easily been into double figures in the first half.

Ben Shore, Jeremy Watt and MoM Adam Wiles were on the score sheet,

LSHC Mens’ 3rd 4,

City of Peterboro’ 8ths 1

For a change 16 players made themselves available for this must-win 5NW home fixture.

An Ed White reverse stick flick and a crisp strike by Gary Hales separated the teams at half time.

Skilful performances from new boy Ben Smith and veteran Lovegrove. Hales clinched his hat-trick with 10 minutes to go.

Bourne Deeping 5ths 6, LSHC Men’s 4th 0

A disappointing outing in Div 6NW(N) for Sutton’s mix of veterans and juniors.

The unfamiliar bouncy pitch did not help, nor did playing the form team of the division. Harry Synnott, Lewis Shooter, Dan Oldfield and Matt Portass acquitted themselves well.
