Fenland Running Club had a busy Sunday with 14 runners completing the March AC 5 mile ‘Spud Run’. Earlier, Hollie (U11) and Beth Arnold (U9, but actually only 4 years old!) ran the Fun Run finishing 33rd in 18.08 and 38th in 19.24 respectively in an entry of 45.

On a pleasant sunny day, a fairly strong wind helped to keep temperature down. Robin Parker was third and Paul Arnold finishing 7th took the 1st Male Vet 40 prize. Other winners were Colin Simpson, 1st Male Vet 55, Ian Milburn 1st Male Vet 65, Ann Trett 3rd Lady and Jane Greenwood 1st Lady Vet 55.

Another outstanding performance of the day was by Matt Warren who tackled the gruelling Outlaw Iron Man Triathlon at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham, which involved a 2.4 mile open water swim, followed by a 112 mile cycle ride followed by a marathon. Strong head winds around the multi-lap course proved an even greater challenge but Matt still finished inside the 12 hour barrier in a superb time of 11.56.07.

Also in action was Jack Trow who competed for his second claim club, Ryston Runners, who organised the Cambridgeshire Athletics East Anglian Track and Field League 3,000m event on the track at King’s Lynn and finished first in a time of 9.39.
