Finesse Motorsport encountered its most challenging outing of the Renault UK Clio Cup season at a sun bathed Thruxton in Hampshire over the weekend, with championship contender Paul Streather forced to settle for a best finish of sixth place in the event’s second contest for the team.
Added to a highly exasperating 15th position from round five, a result of contact early-on during the opening encounter which lost Streather a lot of ground, he has slipped from second to fifth in the championship but is still just 13 points shy of the top three.
Team-mate Daniel Rowbottom took away a best finish of 13th position in round five.
For series returnee Jake Giddings, meanwhile, his maiden race meeting at the wheel of a fourth generation Clio Cup car didn’t deliver the hoped for results – but he was still able to showcase excellent pace, lapping faster in race two than winner Ant Whorton-Eales.
Oulton Park Island Circuit in Cheshire is the next destination for the Clio Cup, on June 4/5.
