Four members of Tydd St Giles Golf Club successfully completed the Macmillan Cancer Support Longest Day Golf Challenge with minutes to spare.

They scored a total of 340 points over the four rounds. The Border Hoppers – Mark Whittaker, Malcolm Stead, Ian Edrupt, and Neil John – were so named because each of the four rounds was played in a different county.

The initial charity target of £1,000 was reached early on and the current total has topped £3,000 and is continuing to climb.

Team captain Whittaker thanked helpers Nikki Stead, Gail Edrupt, Andy Jackson, Paul Amos and Andy Morris, without whom the feat could not have been achieved.

Special thanks were extended to the three other clubs the Border Hoppers visited that day – Sutton Bridge, Feltwell and The Suffolk – all extending the courtesy of the course to the Hoppers.
