Walpole St Andrew runner Matt Pyatt ran in the 42nd Berlin Marathon.
Along with London, Tokyo, Chicago, New York and Boston it is classed as one of the six major marathons in the world.
Feeling under the weather leading up to the race, still tried to beat his personal best of 2 hours 39 minutes and 1 second set in London in 2014.
He ran a very good first half, going through it in 1 hour 16 minutes and 54 seconds, and ground out a new PB of 2 hours 36 minutes 59 seconds.
He broke the very tough barrier of six minutes per mile and came 247th overall out of the 40,000 runners.
