The season is now well underway at Wisbech Badminton Club, with club nights every Wednesday at the Thomas Clarkson Academy Sports Hall commencing at 8pm.

New members of all standards are welcome and you can come along for a taster evening before you decide whether to join.

In their first season for some years in the Hunts & Peterborough League both the men’s doubles and mixed doubles teams are enjoying some very competitive matches against good opposition.

The mixed team consisting of Ruth Woods/Paul Leet, Elaine Aldrich/Steve Ward and Sheila Hennessey/Paul Allen have only played two matches to date due to a few postponements but they have performed well in both of these of these with wins against St Mary’s from Peterborough 7-2 and St. Ivo 5-4 from St. Ives.

The men’s team have played five matches with mixed results. Regular team members Paul Allen, Steve Ward, Paul Leet, Mark Wisby and Darren Harvey have been assisted by Terry Roughton, Hui Huang and Jeff Townsend, who have played in two matches each.

They lost 7-2 in their opening game of the season against Peterborough City away but followed this with an 8-1 away win against Court from Peterborough. An 8-1 loss to St Ivo away was then followed by two home wins, 9-0 against St. Mary’s and 6-3 against Peterborough City.
