Wisbech Grammar School were crowned cup winners in the Rugby Sevens tournament held at the school.
The under-13s teams finished top of their group ahead of Wymondham, Thomas Clarkson and St Hugh’s.
They beat Moreton Hall in the semi-final 35-5 and followed a strong performance in the final against Robert Clack, beating them 35-15.
Head of rugby, Alex Laybourne, said: “It was a great day of Sevens, with the U16s also coming runners-up in their competition. The U13s worked thoroughly hard.
“It was a great team effort led by captain Felix Young, with a particularly notable individual performance by Lewis Shipley (Wisbech), scoring four tries in the final.”
This great performance came off the back of season opening matches and wins against Sedbergh Prep and St Hugh’s Lincolnshire, which resulted in the U13s taking the bowl home from Packwood Hague’s 7s. Elsewhere the 1st VII travelled to Reed’s School scoring 18 tries over four games and securing victory in the shield competition, beating King’s School Canterbury and New Hall School Essex.
