Wisbech SC’s 15 young stars shone when trying to gain qualifying times for next year’s County Championships at Cambridge.

The swimmers came away with 60 personal bests and medals galore.

Results, 25 first places: Jacob Rhodes (7), Carl Purvey (4), Alice Dennis (4), Megan Kierman (4), Ollie Harris (2), Ben Knowles, Billy Wilkshire, Molly Hewitt, Will Pentelow.

2nd: Will Pentelow (2), Jacob Rhodes (2), Carl Purvey (2), Alice Dennis, Ben Knowles, Bethan Ahearn, Tom Hewitt. 3rd: Bethan Ahearn (3), Ben Knowles, Jacob Rhodes, Billy Wilkshire, Carl Purvey, Louisa Rowell, Will Pentelow.

l Wisbech SC travelled to Loughborough in the Arena League and were outgunned by Loughborough, Gainsborough and Lincoln to finish fourth, but despite this they put in some respectable performances.

Wins: Ben Marsters (2) and Lucy Ryan open age group, Hannah Brown 15 and 13 & under; Paul Defty, Carl Purvey, Jacob Rhodes, Oliver Harris and Jack Lane in Freestyle and Medley relay events.
