Wisbech rounded off their pre-season friendlies against a strong Spalding development XV by putting seven tries past the visitors.
Tries from Kerrie McMullen, Ben Chapman, a brace from Nathan Goodale and a hat-trick from De la Rey Veenendaal with three successful conversions from fly half Jack Malkin ensured a solid performance at Harecroft Road.
“The squad were disappointed in their below standard performance the week before and the work they put in at training paid off,” said head coach Leonard Veenendaal.
“It is an encouraging performance especially considering we managed to keep Spalding scoreless. Solomon Prestidge, Steven Priest and man-of-the-match Ben Chapman played really well.”
Wisbech will be looking to roll the good form onto Saturday when the Greene King IPA Eastern Counties 1 season kicks off 3pm against Thetford at Harecroft Road.
