Sarah Brooks from Wisbech, a part-time Level 3 sports massage student, has secured an internship at local professional football club Peterborough United.

Sarah, 32, from Peterborough Regional College (PRC), is due to start at the club when their pre-season training starts this summer. The Posh, who currently play in Sky Bet League One, kick off their league campaign away at Rochdale on August 8.

Sarah said: “I never thought I’d get to the interview stage, so I’m happy that I’ve been given the chance to have the experience. I’m nervous of the unknown but once I get to meet everyone I’m sure I’m going to love it!”

She went on to add: “The experience was nerve wracking. The day was split into two parts, practical and interview. The practical was carried out on their sport scientist - he acted as a ‘body’. During the interview, the lead physio was firing questions out about techniques, it was hard to keep a clear thought process!”

Sarah commended the local FE college, saying: “PRC was thorough in the training they gave me and also give me confidence to apply for a job on this scale. All the practical skills learnt were industry focussed. I am really interested in football and sport injury, so this is ideal for me.”

Sarah hopes to have her own business in the future and plans to take as much experience and practical related work on as possible.

Andi Seago, Sports Lecturer at PRC, commented: “Sarah has done exceptionally well, beating stiff competition to successfully achieve this internship. I am very proud of what she has achieved, since the first day of the course she has been a dedicated student always eager to learn more.

“I wish Sarah every success and I know she will be brilliant in whichever direction she decides to take her career.”
