Wisbech Speed Skaters travelled to Ashbourne in Derbyshire for the second race of the season with a depleted team, but they excelled again.
The track surface at Ashbourne is very grippy and therefore energy sapping. The team welcomed Karl Bates and Charlotte Stapleton to their first races and both showed strength and determination.
Seven year-old Arthur Buckler took an unfortunate tumble during his final points race and finished outside of the points, but still finished in third place overall in his category. Warren Eve held off strong competition to finish third in category. He has been racing for less than 12 months and is showing true potential.
Flynn McGurk held onto second spot in category after a tough fight for first, and Jo Tidman kept an even pace throughout the Masters races to finish in a solid third place. All categories had three races each and a points race.
The team now look forward to their home race at Skaters Roller Rink in Walpole Highway on Saturday, March 4. Racing starts from 5pm and is open to spectators free of charge.
