Wisbech Wildcats travelled to Loughborough to participate in the Robbie’s Rugby Festival.
This was an exciting charity event that raises life changing funds for The Robbie Anderson Cancer Trust and The Jake McCarthy Foundation.
The competition level was high, including teams such as Nottingham Academy and National 2 Hinckley Rugby Club in the event line-up.
Having brought a mixed squad the first opposition of National League 3 team Syston was the first challenge, with the Wildcats going down 48-0.
As the tournament went on the Wildcats put together some more respectable score lines against very tough opposition – scoring tries in all their other games with James Napier scoring twice and also Freddy Foreman and Sam Anderson one each.
Coach Leonard Veenendaal said: “It was a good test for some new players and was all for a good cause.
“A big thank you to the sponsor Eastern-Rent-a-Van who made participation in this worthy cause possible.”
The senior teams continue their pre-season training at the Harecroft Road fields as Wisbech RUFC gear up for their season in Eastern Counties 1.
New players are invited – whether experienced and looking for a new challenge or new to the game.
Pre-season friendlies have been confirmed against Cantabrigian Rugby club at home on Saturday, August 20, and away to West Norfolk Rugby on Saturday, September 3.
