World champ Peacock in weekend action

Doddington athlete Jonnie Peacock - fresh from taking a world title - is in action again this weekend.

The Briton beat USA rival Richard Browne and struck gold in the T44 100m at the IPC World Athletics Championships in Lyon, France, last Tuesday.

The London Paralympic 2012 champion had to beat a very confident Browne who in the semi-final had broken Peacock’s world record by 0.02 seconds to take it to 10.83 seconds.

Peacock takes on Browne again on Sunday (July 28) in the Anniversary Games - a celebration of the first birthday of last year’s Olympic and Paralympic success.

This will be televised on Channel 4 from 3pm.
