WISBECH hockey player Brad Apted was part of the England over 40 team that won the Masters World Cup in Canterbury.
England beat Australia 3-1 to lift the trophy after Apted had scored in the penalty shoot out in the semi-finals in a 4-3 win against Germany. He had also scored three goals in earlier wins against Wales and South Africa.
Apted said: “It was a great experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had to come off in the final with a hamstring injury after 30 minutes but the team played really well.
“We were really on top against Germany too, but just could not find the net. Hopefully the team will stay together for next year’s Masters in Belfast. I will miss the first month of Wisbech’s season to rest up my hamstring injury.”
