Fenland running star Becky Cousins (pictured) is going to the World Duathlon Championships in Nancy, France, at the end of September.
Having developed her running, she has recently taken up cycling and will represent Great Britain in the Under 24 age category.
“I was really surprised to make the team,” said Becky, “as I’d only just started (duathlon) at the beginning of the year.” She took part in a qualifying race in Cambridge in April and came second in her age group to make the national team.
The championships will be held over several laps of an urban course which is made up of a 10K run, 40K ride and final 5K run. Becky hopes to complete the race in about 2 hours 20.
She goes to Nancy with five other women in her team. Her running has been developed at Fenland Running Club under head coach Robin Parker, while the cycling and recent training programmes have been with David and Andrew Jakeman of DNA Performance and Rehab.
