Morton is new Chatteris chairman

Adrian Morton was elected as the new chairman of Chatteris Cricket Club at the recent AGM.

The previous chairman, Phil Sole, had decided to stand down after many years’ service. Sole was elected to the committee in 1992 and as chairman in 2000 and was a leading figure in the planning for the new pavilion following the fire in the old pavilion in 1996.

President, John Childs, thanked Sole for his dedication.

In his final report to the AGM, Sole thanked all of the members. Last season had been very successful, with the club winning the CCA Junior Cup, the Kirkland Cup, the Ernie Wool Trophy and the Fenland Trophy.

Ant Palmer and Paul Foster were re-elected as 1st and 2nd team captains respectively, with Grant Osbourn taking over as Sunday captain.

Next season the club will be running four youth teams in the Cambs Youth Leagues at Under 15, 14, 13 and 11 ages, Pre-season nets had already started at Cromwell and were well attended.
