March Bears new U-16 side lost their season opener to West Norfolk
March Bears under-16s side lost 27-5 in a tough game against West Norfolk.
This was a first outing of the season for a completely new squad, with some members only starting up their rugby careers as little as four weeks ago.
Despite being outplayed to begin with, the Bears compensated with some fierce tackling and managed to largely contain a much stronger and more experienced side.
They went into the half-time interval behind by just three tries.
Immediately after the break, Morgan went close for March near the left-hand corner after a well executed move which surprised their opponents.
West Norfolk converted a further two tries, but the Bears had done themselves proud with a fantastic attitude and high self-motivation.
West was awarded the man-of-the-match accolade after some fantastic try-saving tackles.
The main down-side to the match occurred when a March player suffered what looked like a very serious injury towards the end of the game.
However, he was luckily given the all-clear by paramedics and was able to walk safely from the pitch.
The game was played in good spirit, and both sides gathered for a joint photograph when play had concluded.
