Cambs League 5b

Wicken 2 Benwick Athletic Res 1

Benwick Athletic Reserves were so disappointed not to get anything out of an incident-packed game.

Benwick were looking comfortable on 40 minutes having taken the lead when Jacob Gray’s deft chip set up Matty Grainger. When Jordie Brighton got sent off for a late tackle, Benwick were defending in numbers.

Wicken equalised just after half-time but Benwick’s Matt Smalley had a shot cleared off the line. In the 89th minute a freak own goal from Kieran Henshaw settled the result and gave Wicken the points.

March Park Rangers 2 Cambridge City 9

March held their own in a physical first half, going into the break 1-1 after Keira Swanson equalised.

Rangers came out fighting in the second half and took an early lead following a fantastic cross by Marlene Burgraff that was volleyed into the net by Swanson. Unfortunately a few incidents against Rangers gave Cambridge the confidence and strength to comfortably win.

PoM: Keira Swanson.
