Riverside 1, Park Ladies 9

Park Ladies were back in league action after a two-week break - and a rusty start combined with a difficult pitch meant that it took a while for them to get going. But they eventually settled and began to play some good football.

The first goal arrived on 20 minutes when a ball across the box from Erin Powell found Georgia Stimson at the far post and she converted from close range.

Park continued to press and created plenty of opportunities but the second goal didn’t arrive until just before half-time, Sophie Fenner setting up Teagan Pulman who finished low into the corner.

Park went out determined to kill the game off and within a couple of minutes of the restart they had a third, Georgia Payne marking her welcome return to the squad after having a baby by smashing home from a Stimson square ball.

Riverside began to battle as they tried to get back into the game but Park continued to press, going close several times including Stimson hitting the bar.

Park added a fourth after a poor goal kick landed at the feet of Jenna Brown who smashed it straight back into the goal.

Park were then awarded a penalty after a clumsy challenge brought down Powell in the area. She then stepped up to convert and make it 5-0.

Stimson added her second shortly after when she went on a run, beat several defenders and finished well past the keeper.

Stimson then turned provider, crossing the ball into Pulman to smash home for 7-0.

Riverside pulled one back when some poor defending allowed them to break through and score, the near post shot going under the keeper.

Some good work by Powell saw her resulting cross finished by Stimson to complete her hat-trick. However, she wasn’t done there and in the final minute a fantastic cross field ball from Erin Fox played her in yet again and she made no mistake to add her fourth of the game.

The result kept Park in third place, with Netherton United Development the visitors next week.
