Fenland Running Club’s Andy Plume finishes 15th in first Peterborough 5K Grand Prix race; Martin Jennings fifth in Run Sandringham 5K

It has been a busy week for Fenland Running Club, with the first of the five Peterborough 5K Grand Prix races as well as the Run Sandringham event.

A stunning run from Andy Plume placed him 15th in a highly-competitive field as it raced around the village of Eye. Close behind were Aaron Porter and Dan Tickner, who could barely be separated at the finish line as they finished well under the magic 20-minute barrier.

Sean Banks also completed the feat, while husband and wife team Tom and Jac Richards held their post-marathon form with times close to their personal bests. Eleven runners completed the course, with ever-present Ian King keeping everyone else honest by chasing them into the 20-minute zone.

In hot conditions and on a hilly course, Fenland Running Club athletes took on the Sandringham 5K and 10K.

A stand-out performance by Martin Jennings placed him fifth in the shorter race and the winner of his age category.

Newcomer Malcom Desilva sped through the woodland in the 10K race to finish well inside the top 100, with two pairs of runners following him in.

Zoe Thornton and Andrew Mallett completed the route in just over an hour, while Stephanie Payne and Elenor Key finished side-by-side less than 10 minutes later.
