Saranga Rajaguru displayed impeccable timing as March Town CC warmed up perfectly for Saturday’s Cambs League derby away at Wisbech Town.

Rajaguru hit his maiden league century for the 1st XI at Ramsey on Saturday during a 127-run triumph.

The Sri Lankan’s 138 is the highest individual score of the season in Whitings League Division 1, as the visitors produced their best performance of the season.

After four defeats in row, March managed 295-9, their biggest total by one run since Godmanchester at home last July. Rajaguru smashed 25 boundaries, including five sixes, during a 105-ball knock.

Rajaguru and Shardul Brahmbhatt (38) put on 80 for the third wicket and, with James Harradine adding 39 off 43 balls at number seven, March were in pole position.

Ramsey were up with the run rate after 18 overs with two wickets down.

But Rajaguru completed a top all-round performance by snapping up a 5-37 haul at one end with his leg-spin, while Brambhatt bagged 2-35 with his off-breaks, as Ramsey were dismissed for 168.
