Leverington Three Counties Running Club ladies post Whitemoor 5-miler podiums
A fantastic warm week of running and events for Three Counties Running Club members.
It all started Wednesday evening with the third event in the Peterborough 5k Series. The race was hosted by Thorney RC and took place at Ferry Meadows.
First home for the club was Mark Mattless in a great time of 22:23 followed by Matt Hunter 24:10, Debbie Agger 26:57, Melvin Green 27:54PB, Fay Gratton 28:43, Steve Clarke 29:33, Anne-Marie Mattless 31:35 and Jennie Sinclair 32:29.
Sunday saw 23 members take part in the Whitemoor 5-miler and Darren’s Dash 1.5 mile fun run.
Amongst the 84 fun run field, nine TCRC members took part with seven of them being Juniors. Maisie Macdonald was first home for the club in 15th place and just lost out on a photo finish for 1st Female overall. Maisie knocked two minutes off last year’s time getting a new PB of 10:30.
Other times: George Warby 11:12 PB, Philip Baxter 11:16PB, Ruby Baxter 12:08PB, Joshua Trundle 12:21PB, Isaac Western 12:57 PB, Thomas Baxter 13:21PB, Jake Trundle 13:21PB And Jason Western 13:37PB.
Some 15 club members lined up in the heat for the start of the 5-mile event.
The course is a lovely mixed terrain route starting and finishing at the sports field in March, going through the nature reserve and along the riverbank.
At the start of the race with the heat, most members would’ve just been happy getting round but there were 11 PB’s and two podium spots.

Other times: Jonathan Beesley in a great PB of 38:32, Mark Mattless PB of 38:46, Amy Baxter 1st in her age category 35-39 with a PB of 39:22, Vet 40 Vicki Drake 40:38, 1st in her age category, Sarah-Jane Macdonald in a new PB of 42:23, Sarah Johnson 42:44PB, Debbie Agger 45:23PB, Melvin Green 46:31PB, Leanne Taylor 47:15PB, Steve Clarke 50:56PB (by 4mins), Sarah Lamb 53:52PB, Zoe Gourley 53:54 and Alice Bancroft-Turner 53:52PB.
Arthur Sargeant travelled to Tenby in Wales to take part in the Long Course Weekend in preparation for his Ironman event in September in Wales.
The event consists of Friday 2.4 mile open water swim, Saturday 112 miles bike ride and Sunday running a marathon 26.2 miles. You get a medal for each individual event; and if you complete all three you get a fourth medal and the Ironman shirt.
This was a great chance to see where Arthur was in his training coming up to the event. His fantastic times were: swim 1:12:06, bike 7:53:18 and run 5:29:21; total time of 14:34:45.
