Wisbech St Mary Res 3 (WSM win on penalties)

An epic tie saw Saints Reserves, who play three divisions above Upwell, through on penalties.

Upwell captain Matt Thomas, Jonny Allen and Jack Watson put Upwell 3-0 up. St Mary’s reacted quickly and scored, making it 3-1 at the break.

In the second half was the controversial sending off of Upwell substitute Scott Beetlestone for a tackle. St Mary’s had equalised at this point and in extra time St Mary’s also found themselves down to 10 men.

During the penalty shoot-out, Luke Gale and Matt Thomas both put penalties away. Unfortunately Upwell missed their other three opportunities.

Upwell manager, Karl Schultz, said: “I couldn’t have been prouder of my lads. Gary Haime from St Mary’s was exceptionally complimentary of us. All of us at Upwell wish them luck in the final!”

Benwick Athletic Res 4, Walsoken 0

Jody Day scored a hat-trick to move Benwick away from Walsoken in a basement game.

Day scored with a penalty after Steve Revell was up-ended in the area. Revell scored after an error from Walsoken keeper Ivan Crisp. Day scored a half volley and, in the second half, netted a spectacular overhead kick.
