By Fenland Citizen Reporter

The Coniston 14 is probably the most beautiful road race in Britain, each year attracting 1,600 runners.

The race is organised by an enthusiastic committee of volunteers from the Lake District village.

Starting and finishing at the John Ruskin School 18 Fenland RC runners took on this challenging undulating course on Saturday. The route is a 14-mile loop around Coniston Water.

• Back in Peterborough on Saturday afternoon, six brave members of FRC decided to take on the Inflatable 5k Zombie Survival Run at the East of England Showground.

Led by the courageous Tony Foice-Beard; he was joined by Sam Bell, Julie Peeling, Kelly Carter, Carrie Ann Caseley, Grahame Peacock and Sam’s son, Josh Bell.

Overcoming multiple inflatable obstacles and battling numerous infected zones, the intrepid group made their way around the 5k course.

Unfortunately upon reaching the final obstacle before the safe extraction point, the group were overrun by zombies and all became infected!
