Wisbech Swimming Club put out two teams for Round 2 of the Anglian League, the ‘As’ travelling to Downham Market and the ‘Bs’ to Boston.

Wisbech ‘A’ took six first places in the 30-race competition, along with eight seconds and nine thirds, for 16 personal best times – results good enough for third place overall, on 74 points.

Sisters Alice and Beth Dennis accounted for two race wins each, Beth in the 13/U individual medley and 100m backstroke, and Alice in the 15/U 100m breaststroke and backstroke. Beth set new PBs in both events, Alice in the backstroke.

Victory and new PBs also went to Charlie Bourne in the 13/U 100m backstroke and Carl Purvey in the same event but in the 15/U category.

The ‘B’ team came home with four wins, 11 seconds and 15 thirds, for 13 PBs and joint second place on 109 points. Tom Locke won the 15/U 100m breaststroke with a new PB, Robson Pack took the open 50m butterfly, Billy Lane the 13/U 100m backstroke for a new PB and Eloise Youngs the 13/U 100m butterfly, also with a PB.

The teams compete again on June 27, when Wisbech hosts round three at the Hudson Sports Centre.
