Leverington Sports through to next round of Peterborough Senior Cup
Leverington Sports progressed to the next round of the Peterborough Senior Cup with a 3-2 home win over fellow Peterborough League Premier Division side Ramsey Town on Saturday. Goals came from Shane Franklin and subs Wesley Stokes and Louise Garner.
Chatteris Town bowed out at the first hurdle, however, after a 2-1 home defeat to fellow Premier Division side Peterborough Reserves. Jack McLoughlin scored for The Lilies, but Oliver Smith was sent off.
Long Sutton continued their 100% start to the Division One campaign with a 3-2 home win over YDP. Kyle Compton scored twice in the first half to see The Magpies lead 2-1, and Kieron McConnell netted the winner from the penalty spot five minutes into added-on time. Keeper Josh Simpson was man of the match.
In the same division, Wisbech Town Reserves won for the first time this season, 4-3 at Crowland Town Reserves. Harry Ashby, Robert Breide, Anthony Horn and Ryan Murray were on target for The Fenmen.
Sutton Bridge United are second-from-bottom in Division Two after a 3-2 home defeat against Netherton United A. Robert Hook and Craig Pack scored for United.
Division Four side Leverington Sports Development kicked off their season with a 1-0 home win over Division Three outfit Peterborough Lions in the Peterborough Junior Cup, Conor Bird scoring the only goal of the game on the hour.
There was a first win of the season for Wisbech St Mary in the Cambs County League Premier Division when they beat Soham Town Rangers Reserves 4-2 at home. Boston Cash scored twice for Saints, and Freddie Collison and sub Grant Rider were also on the scoresheet.
Wimblington had a terrific 8-1 win at Thaxted Rangers in Senior A, Jay Rout netting twice and Thomas Hinton, Kallum Jupp, Kyle Liddy and Connor Mazurek also on target.
In the same division, March Town United Reserves won 2-0 at West Wratting Reserves, Connor Bancans and Billy Munns scoring.
The 1B season got underway with a local derby, March Town United A beaten 2-1 at home by Wisbech St Mary Reserves, Dayne Moore scoring for The Hares and Saints goals coming from Ajay Jolly and Brandon Hedge. Outwell Swifts made a losing start, going down 2-1 at home to Eynesbury Rovers Reserves.
Manea United made a cracking start to the 2B season with a 9-1 home win over Hemingfords United A, and Wisbech St Mary Development A drew 0-0 at home with Beach.
AEK United of Guyhirn started their 3B campaign with a 1-0 home win over Hartford Rangers Reserves, George Evans scoring. March Academy also made a winning start, beating Swavesey Institute Reserves 1-0, sub Daniel Williams scoring the goal.
Wisbech St Mary B lost 3-2 at Bluntisham Rangers Reserves in 4C, Ricky Bowden and Jesse Hemmings scoring. Chatteris Town A lost 2-1 at Stretham Reserves, Stanley Leach on target for The Lilies.
Marshland Saints Reserves lost 3-1 at Needingworth United Reserves, sub Yurii Kuzma scoring, and Wisbech Town Acorns were beaten 4-0 at Brampton.
Marshland Saints continued their perfect start to the Anglian Combination Division Two season with a 5-2 home win against Mulbarton Wanderers Reserves, David Abbott scoring twice and Kieran Bruce, Eddie McGahren and Callum Rogers also on target.
