Wisbech super welterweight Joe Steed back with a win
Wisbech super welterweight Joe Steed made a winning return to the ring on Saturday after 18 months without a fight because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Steed (23) beat Jordan Grannum at the Norfolk Showground in Norwich, winning three of the four rounds, with one shared.
This takes his record to a perfect eight wins out of eight.
Steed was cheered on by travelling support to produce from the Fens.
The first two rounds were cagey, with Grannum looking to stay away from Steed but, with the better workrate and punches, the Wisbech man easily won both.
In the third round Grannum opened up and while Steed was in no trouble it did give him something to think about.
The fourth round was the most entertaining, with both boxers giving it their all – but it was Steed that was landing the cleaner shots.
Steed said afterwards: “After being out of the ring for so long it was great to get back in the ring.”
“I hope people can see the results of all the hard work I have been putting in.”
“I would like to be out boxing as many times as possible.
“I will be having a few days off over Christmas but then it will be back in the gym preparing for another fight.”
