Former Wisbech Town skipper Stuart Unwin led Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Over 60s to a six wicket victory against Bedfordshire in their opening game on Tuesday in the Eastern region of the Spitfire National League.
The top four Cambs batsmen made the bulk of the runs after tea, as Unwin came in at No 4 and remained unbeaten on 47 in the match played at Dunstable.
He shared in a third wicket partnership of 61 with March Town’s Pat Ringham (38) as they successfully chased down the home county’s total of 168-4.
Nick Andrews, who coached March first team during February indoor nets, made 43.
The fixture was the first of 10 consecutive Tuesday group matches, in what will be the county side’s second season in the league.
