Ely and Marham are the destinations for Three Counties members as they bring 2024 to a close with 10k races
Three Counties Running Club members tackled two different 10k New Year's Eve races to round off a fantastic year of running.
Ely and Marham were the two locations for participants on a fresh morning.
The Ely New Year's Eve 10k saw three club members battle it out over a one-lap rural course with a nice downhill at the start before an uphill finish in the final mile.
The event is hosted by Ely Runners and starts on the High Street where you will hear the bagpiper ready to set the runners on their way. It was quite windy on the open course and fairly fresh at 10 degrees.
Craig Freestone and Tracey Else crossed the line together in a great time of 53:37 followed by Melvin Green with another great run of 1:04:02.
The Marham Flyers 10k race always sees a great turnout from TCRC members.
This is a fast, flat, traffic-free race around the airfield and all money raised from the event goes to support the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.
There was a turnout of 26 members tackling the course. The route is very open so there is no hiding for the runners from the bad weather conditions.
Again, like Ely, it was a fresh start to the day but everyone took the race in their stride with some great personal bests for some members.
There was a field of 441 runners and Simon Killen finished first for the club in seventh place in a fantastic time of 36:22 and Rickie Trundle was next in 32nd place in a PB of 39:18.
