Wisbech Town Cricket Club will host a Lashings World XI on August 12, with tickets available

Wisbech Town Cricket Club will host some cricketing superstars when Lashings World XI visit Harecroft Road on August 12.

This is the second time the fixture has taken place, following on from the extremely successful event in 2018

The Lashings World XI will be bringing Henry Blofeld and Gordon Greenidge, along with a playing XI of England internationals - including Martin Bicknell, John Emburey, Usman Afzaal, Owais Shah, Chris Lewis, Chris Schofield, Nick Compton and Phil Mustard.

Also in attendance will be South Africa and Pakistan internationals Yasir Arafat and Charl Willoughby - as well as Love Island's Hugo Hammond.

The day will commence at 11pm, when Lashings' professionals will take a coaching session with 7-15-year-olds.

From 12:30pm, a three course luncheon will be served to table guests in the club's marquee. There are still seats available at £75 per head - contact wtcclashings@gmail.com as soon as possible to book.

The Pavillion bar and food stalls (including a hog roast) will be open from the same time.

The excitement culminates at 4pm when the Lashings XI face off against a Wisbech Town XI in a T20 game.

Following presentations, a disco will round off the day.

Wisbech chairman Chris Clark said: "Following a fantastic and well received event in 2018, we were anxious to replicate our Lashings day again.

"Along with our Junior Cricket Week we hope this will bring a rich experience to our community and get more folks interested in cricket and our club."
