Sileby Rangers 2,

Wisbech Town 3

The winning goal a minute before the hour mark from striker Tommy Treacher sealed third spot in the Chromasports United Counties League for the Fenmen on Saturday.

Danny Beaumont and Steve Reid give the ‪visitors‬ a two-goal lead before a Stuart Cobb own goal pulled one back for the home side by half-time.

A goal seconds after the restart by Ulker brought Northampton Sileby Rangers level before Treacher hit the winner.

Wisbech were relying on second place Thurnby Nirvana to slip up in order to gain the runners-up at the last-gasp, but it wasn’t to be.

Manager Dick Creasey said: “Fair play to Thurnby Nirvana. I always say the leagues don’t lie and they deserved their runners-up spot.

“We went to (runaway champions) AFC Rushden & Diamonds and they scored in the last minute. We went back there 10 days later in the cup, and the same thing happened.

“We haven’t recovered from that. Sometimes it’s all psychological.

“It wasn’t a great game on Saturday. We’ve only got ourselves to blame. Against Holbeach, PNS and Cogenhoe we should have got more out of those games than we did get.”

Wisbech: Jordan, Johnson, Wilson, Fairweather, Spafford, Smith, Millson, Reid, Cobb, Beaumont, Treacher. Subs: Lunn, Ford, Bishop, Alexander.

The Wisbech Town presentation evening is at the club on Saturday, starting at 7pm. A limited number of tickets are still available free from committee members.
