The Wisbech Wheelers Tuesday evening event was abandoned when lady triathlete Becky Hamilton was struck from behind by a van.

She sustained serious injuries as a result, but is in a stable condition and is on the road to recovery.

Wisbech vets were in action at the weekend in the Chronos RT open ‘10’ at Cambourne, where John Talbot upped his game with a personal best of 21.46, 50-plus rider Paul Willis recorded a pb of 24.43 and 60-plus category rider Tony Bye came in just two seconds later with a pb of 24.45.

Adrian Whiting of Performance Coaching, also 50+, recorded 23.40.

On the same day 60+ lady vet, Denese Hallahan, rode a 27.49 at Hull in the open 10-mile event organised by Team Jadan, a club concentrating on junior women.

In the same event TT revelation, Haley Simmonds, smashed the British ladies record with a sizzling 19.31.
