Upwell Town 3

Tydd St Mary 6

Tydd St Mary FC finished their pre-season in style on Saturday.

Upwell led after four minutes but the Saints levelled two minutes later when Nick Reims was upended and Tim Lowe converted the penalty.

Reims on 18 minutes slotted in Phil Franklin, his shot was saved and Joe Harrison was on hand to volley into the net. Upwell levelled on the half-hour via a defensive error.

The second half saw Tydd come out with a changed formation but Upwell took the lead again 10 minutes into the half. The Saints responded well and two minutes later Darren Rawthorn raced down the right and unleashed a cracker of a shot that fooled the ’keeperat his near post.

Tydd upped their game and on 74 minutes, a Reims free kick was excellently headed in by MoM Matty Rose; a minute later Reims assisted with a lovely lofted ball for Lowe to unleash a screamer; and Harrison was fouled in the box for Lowe to bag his second penalty and his hat-trick.

Manager, Carl Wilson, was pleased with his side’s second half performance and a very good pre-season. Tydd kick off their PDFL Div 3 season on Saturday at home against Riverside Rovers Reserves.
