Upwell progressed to the quarter-final of the John Ablett Cup after Chequers FC decided not to come back out and field a team in the second half.

Upwell were already 4-0 up after a Claudio Cerqueira brace, an own goal and a Jack Watson effort.

Upwell manager, Karl Schultz was furious: “I feel like they’ve wasted everyone’s time. They didn’t show up until five minutes before kick-off.

“We and the referee agreed to let them push the kick-off back 15 minutes, but even then they showed no urgency and just didn’t seem bothered.”
