Upwell first team sailed to a 10-0 home victory at the weekend, but the victory came at a price.

Usual goalkeeper, Luke Fage, had to come off within the first five minutes after twisting his ankle. It was shortly after this that Luke Gale opened the scoring with a standing overhead kick.

Jack Watson soon added Upwell’s second before Martin Chapman notched a first half hat-trick.

After a sluggish start to the second half, Marcio Santos scored a quick double. A Gale goal, sandwiched between a Jack Watson brace, which completed his hat-trick, saw Upwell hit double figures.

l Upwell Reserves avenged their previous week’s defeat to Walsoken this week by gaining a 4-2 victory. All Upwell’s goals came in the first half through Daniel Hempson (2) and Tommy Neal (2).

Benwick Athletic Res 1

Benwick Ath Res were 1-0 up thanks to a Josh Rowlands goal from a corner.

Needingworth then got a couple of goals in quick succession. Chances fell to Benwick’s Joe Davis and debutant Rob Munden, but two late penalties sealed Benwick’s fate.
