A March Cricket Club XI won the tenth annual T20/barbecue match against a David Softley XI by 58 runs on Friday.
Mark Southwell picked up two wickets for the visitors, including the scalp of the game’s top-scorer Matty Vail – who was caught one-handed on the boundary by Stuart Goddard for 40.
John Wallis also made 29 in the March total of 148-4.
Carl Chapman, who was playing first team cricket up until last year, made a spirited 35 in the 92 all-out reply, Rob Tombs taking three wickets.
n Alan Burton and Gary Freear both hit unbeaten half-centuries as Wisbech beat Nassington by seven wickets in the Tucker League Division One on Saturday. Nassington reached 172-6 and Wisbech comfortably reached that target, with Burton (61 not out) and Freear (62 not out) helping them to a total of 174-3.
March were beaten by three wickets against Histon. Tyler Phillips (42 not out) top-scored as they were all out for 160, which Histon surprassed for the loss of seven wickets.
The Sunday Crows were blown away by Oundle for 83 in the Rutland League Division 1. Toby Nulty, batting at No.10, was top-scorer with 24 and he took the only Oundle wicket.
The 2nds picked up a crucial three-wicket win at St Giles in CCA Senior Division 1.
The Sunday 2nds lost to City of Ely by 10 wickets in a double header: Fenland Trophy points and a place in the final of the Ernie Wool Cup.
A win at last for the 3rd XI: Anthony Henson’s hard-hit 61 setting up a 100-run victory at Bluntisham 2nds in CCA Junior League Division 3N.
The 4ths suffered their first defeat of the season in CCA Junior Division 5N, by seven wickets to Sutton 2nds.
