Wadlow wins sixth national


Competing in the National EBF & EWBF Indoor finals at Newark IBC last week, North Cambs bowlers had some very close games.

Star for the county was Christine Wadlow who won the EWBF 4 bowl senior singles title, adding this to previous titles for indoor and outdoor won in 1998, 1999, 2009 and two in 2013.

Being entered in five events meant that Chris spent a lot of time on the green and on Thursday played consecutive games at 9.30am, 12.00, 2.30pm, 5pm and 8pm winning the last two to get through to the senior singles semi-final at noon Friday and then winning the final on Saturday against J Vinter (Lincs) 21-8.

Results, Ladies - senior 4 bowl singles: R1, C Wadlow won 21-7 v Suffolk, R2 won 21-12 v Hunts, SF won 21-15 v Norfolk, Final v Lincs 21-8. 4 bowl singles: R1, C Wadlow won 21-9 v Northants, R2 lost 20-21 v Derbyshire. 2 bowl rinks: R1, C Wadlow, J Savage, L Quibell won 24-11 Humberside, R2 lost 12-20 v Lincs losing finalists. 2 bowl pairs: R1, C Wadlow & J Savage lost 16-17 v Suffolk

Mixed - 2 bowl rinks: R1, R Allen, J Chambers, C Wadlow v Derbyshire, North Cambs withdrew over a dispute about the use of Aero TRIFICTA tricoloured bowls on the next rink. 2 bowl pairs: R1, F Howard & L Quibell won 19-12 v Northants, R2 lost 17-27 v Cleveland losing finalists.

Men - senior singles: R1, E Clarke lost a very close game 20-21 v Derbyshire. 2 bowl rinks: R1, F Howard, J Chambers, R Allen lost 9-19 v Hunts losing finalists. 2 bowl pairs: R1, R Allen & F Howard lost 4-24 v Suffolk finalist. 4 bowl singles: R1, J Hines lost 10-21 v Notts.

U25 singles: R1, R Barr lost 8-21 v Notts. EWBF Harry Carver competition: won by Norfolk with 8 points, North Cambs 2. EBF Eversley Trophy: won by Lincs with 12 points, North Cambs 7.
