Walpole St Andrew wakeboarder Alex off to World Championships


Wakeboarder Alex Wilson (9) from Walpole St Andrew attended the cable nationals, where he came third in the 11 and unders against some tough competition.

On the cable in the Sheffield 10 feet high series for U13s, Alex should finish overall second, and he will attend the Boat Wakeboard World Championships in Portugal.

Last weekend there was the annual National Cutting Edge competition where children from across the country compete in different watersports. The event is for children up to the age of 16. Alex managed wins in wakeboarding and kneeboard trick, third in slalom, a fifth place in barefoot and an overall second place.

Alex’s younger sister Zoe (7) managed wins in wakeboarding for girls and kneeboard trick for girls.

Brother Jamie bagged the youngest rider award at aged 6 and the judges’ award for wakeboarding.
