Long Sutton Athletic kicked off their new season with an impressive 2-1 home win against one of the Peterborough League Premier Division's top sides.

The Magpies enjoyed a 2-1 home win over Netherton United at London Road, with goals coming from Ryan Alexander and Cameron Lee.

It wasn't such a good start, however, for Leverington Sports, who were beaten 5-0 at home to Oundle Town.

Tydd got their Division One campaign off to a good start with a 2-0 win over Whittlesey Athletic Reserves, Matt Eaton opening the scoring in the 61st minute and Dale Parnell sealing the win in the 74th.

The other divisions kick off next weekend.

In the Cambridgeshire County League Kershaw Premier, newly promoted March Town Reserves went down to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Over Sports.

Another newly-promoted side enjoyed the best start possible, as AFC Walpole beat Swavesey Institute 5-2 in Kershaw Senior B. Joe Reed notched an opening day hat-trick and other goals came from Jake Hopkisson and a free kick from captain Ryan Dennis.

The other divisions kick off next weekend.
