Tydd Golf Club had a great turnout at the John Gamble Memorial competition
85 Tydd Golf Club members took part in the John Gamble Memorial competition.
John's wife Jill and daughter Katie were on had to hand out prizes, with a day of great autumn sunshine resulting in the excellent turnout.
Before teeing off, golfers enjoyed a pint of John Smiths and raised a toast in their former member's memory.
He had always enjoyed the beer, and members made sure to drink it out of a straight glass.
Jill was also very pleased to receive £200, which was generously donated from the halfway house - which also supplied drinks and excellent homemade cakes.
Jill will donate the money to Multiple Scelrosis and Diabetes UK.
Frank Howard (pictured with Jill and Katie) was crowned the winner after scoring 46 points.
Lee Smith was second with 42 points.
Steve Thopson was first in the men's competitin with 40 points, with Gary Allen second (39pts).
In the ladies' section, Ann Fiford came out on top with 35 points - Linda Walker eas runner-up with 33.
Jamie Stott won the nearest-the-pin challenge on the fourth hole, with Ashley Ziebart taking the accolade on the eighth.
Mark Cooper was closest on Hole 11, Mike McCleery at 16, and Tim Hines was cloest to the pin in two shots at the final hole. James Dack hit the furthest drive on Hole 13.
