Wimblington commenced the new season with the first team playing Needingworth in a rain-interrupted thrilling tie.

Some tight bowling and good fielding restricted Needingworth to 171-7 from their 40 overs. Ollie Burton starred with 5-30 from 7 overs and Matthew Day took a superb one-handed catch in the covers, diving full length.

Wimblington started slowly and found themselves in trouble at 50 for 3. Sean Stimpson 50 and Ashley Irvine 42 set about a recovery. It all came down to the last ball with Wimblington scrambling a leg bye.

The second team came up a one man assault from Bar Hill’s opener scoring 97 in a team total of 161 for 6.

Wimblington relied heavily on Norman Jepson to see them home with him scoring 73 out of the total of 163-7.
