The three Fenland town first teams got little change out of Saturday’s fixtures.
In the Cambs Tucker League, Wisbech suffered their first defeat of 2015 by 117 runs at Burwell 2nds.
James Williams grabbed 4-30 as Burwell reached 236 and made 31 in Wisbech’s reply of 119. Current leaders are Godmanchester, while Wisbech and March clash next week in the T20 Jaidka Cup.
March were outgunned in almost every department to lose at Histon with just under 10 overs remaining and sit in the relegation zone.
Skipper Jody Betts and James Harradine were joint top-scorers in the 167 total. But that was not enough despite Chris Ringham’s 2-25 figures off 12 overs.
Chatteris CC also lost their CCA 1 opener.
‘Golden Oldies’ John Gilson and Steve Hinson figured in an 128-run opening stand as March 2nds started their CCA Senior League campaign with a six wicket loss to Cambridge St Giles, at The Avenue.
Gilson (68) scored his third consecutive half-century and Hinson hit 63 in the 186-9 total. The March wickets were shared around as the visitors cruised home at 190-4.
The 3rds lost to a strong-looking Terrington St Clement side by eight wickets in their opening CCA Junior League Division 3N game of the season.
March made 122 against a lively attack – opener Josh Fox cracking a rapid 24, with last man James Shepherd adding 18.
The visitors, who have come out of the West Norfolk League and now look to be in the wrong division, eased home in 25.1 overs – teenagers Sam Clarke and Charlie Revell taking the wickets.
l A reminder that the March Town Hockey Club and March Town CC Talents and Favours evening is on Friday. The Twenty/20 match is due to start at 6pm with the auction to follow around 8.30pm.
