Games played in good spirit at Halloween event

By Pete Woodhouse

The Wisbech Badminton Babes and Walpole Ladies Badminton Club played hand-in-hand, co-operative games in the first time the two groups have met.

Games were played in good spirit and the ladies enjoyed playing with different players.

The evening ended with Halloween tea and cakes, and they said: “They needed to put back what they’d taken out!”

The ladies left tired and happy and were looking forward to their next meeting.

Coach, Nishi Varma, said: “It was great seeing the ladies play different women, learning new skills, laughing and joking in court. It’s what sport is all about.”

Participant, Mandy Venni, commented: “It’s a great laugh. We don’t take it seriously. We come for all kinds of reasons – friendship, focussing on something other than what needs to be done at home, or just getting involved in something different. I love it!”

The Wisbech Badminton Babes meet every Wednesday at the Hudson from 7-8pm. Cost is only £2. All abilities are welcome with coaching and equipment provided. To join the Walpole club contact Janet Luck on 07791 069288.
