Wisbech beat fellow high flyers City as the top end of the East 1N league remains tight.

Wisbech dominated the first half. Some excellent work from Charlie Paine saw Joanne Gomm rocket the ball into the net on the brink of half-time.

Wisbech stepped it up a gear in the second half and goals came from Claire Apted, Leanne Williamson at the far post from a broken down penalty corner and Paine’s deflection from a well-worked corner routine.

Player of the match: Laura Overland.

Wisbech take on Royston away next week 12:00, with a game in hand over third.

Cambridge City 3rds 5

Wisbech Ladies 2nds 1

In a tough game with the opponents third in the league, Wisbech levelled when Emma Baker supplied Sharon Simons who neatly slotted home, but conceded two further goals before half-time.

Next: February 27 away to Alford & District Ladies, 3pm.

Wisbech Ladies 3rds 4 Louth Ladies 2nds 5

Wisbech scored three goals from open play in the first half, whilst Louth scored three.

In the second half Wisbech took the lead but Louth drew level again and scored the winner with minutes to go.

Wisbech Men 4

City of Peterborough 2nds 7

Wisbech had a good start scoring through an awesome Will Denny reverse stick shot.

Wisbech then gave Peterborough too much time on the ball; this led to a half-time score of 5-2.

After a stern half-time talk Wisbech had a much improved second half. Further goals came from Denny and Tom Culshaw.

Wisbech have a week off; their next game will be on Saturday, February 27 at home to I-ES Men, 2:30 push back.

Wisbech Men’s 4ths 3 Spalding 4ths 6

Wisbech started slowly and found themselves 3-0 down at half-time.

A stern team talk and using the whole width of the pitch, meant Wisbech pulled a quick goal back from Jamie Gollands.

Thomas Gregory scored another great goal; soon after an own goal made it 3-3.

It stayed that way until 10 minutes from the end after some tired defending.
