Wisbech came into this game full of confidence following an excellent win last week, and took an early lead thanks to a Sam Blunt drag flick.

Will Denny made a good tackle and scored following a 2 on 1 with Sam Blunt.

Wisbech dropped their levels and allowed two cheap goals to go in with the scores level at half-time.

Wisbech went down to nine men and Gary Freear made an excellent save from a short corner.

Having weathered the storm Wisbech took a deserved lead through Denny with a well worked short corner. Wisbech couldn’t quite hold on as a questionable short corner was converted with two minutes to go.

Wisbech travelled with a mixture of players from their Ladies 1st, 2nd and 3rd team and Long Sutton 1sts knowing it was going to be a hard contest.

Norwich took the lead within the first 20 minutes. Wisbech fought back and at their first short corner, Laura Overland’s strike from the top of the D was then deflected by Gilly Dunn which went into the path of Lyn Tancred who slotted the ball into the back of the net.

At the beginning of the second half the Dragons scored two quick goals after dubious decisions by the umpires but Wisbech again came back with Ali Mason making good use of the space down the right. Wisbech had numerous short corners but were unable to close the gap which eventually saw Dragons score their fourth.

Wisbech felt the score did not reflect the game after an excellent team performance.

PoM: Laura Overland.
